The AIM Competition Team is made up of 5 teams; Minis, Petites, Juniors, Teens, and Seniors. Everybody on the team must audition for placement on a team and the classes in which they are invited to take. Individual teams may compete in Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Tap. Additionally, every student that competes a solo must take a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week. Our competition team is a dedicated group of students that eagerly want to learn more about the art of dance and advance their technique. All students must take a least 1 Ballet class per week (2 per week for soloists) and a Jumps and & Turns technique class on top of their specific genre classes. Additionally, the majority of our students take Acro to help build their strength and add an extra element to their dance technique. In addition to the students large group classes they may also be invited by our instructors to compete a solo, duo, trio, or a small group. All solos, duos, trios, and small groups rehearse during a separate 30 min time slot that will be determined based on the student and instructors schedule. The competition team competes at 3 regional competitions per year, as well as select team members will be invited to compete at 2 additional competitions. Additionally, every student on the competition team must attend one of our week long summer intensives in August. During that week the students will begin to work with their teams and instructors as well take class from guest teachers. Being on a competition team our students learn teamwork, responsibility, discipline, creativity, cooperation, and trust through collaborative work with their teammates as well as their instructors.
Company Teams
*Each Team may be divided into multiple groups based on level and age.
Mini: Our youngest competition team beginning as young as age 5! Every student is required to take Ballet, Jumps & Turns, and Acro. Students will then be placed in Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, and/or Hip Hip. A select few of our Minis will be offered a solo. Solos a determined by the teachers and will be scheduled as a private based on the teacher and students availability.
Petite: Every student is required to take Ballet, Jumps & Turns, and Acro. Students will then be placed in Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, and/or Hip Hip. At this level select students will be offered a solo, duo, trio or a small group. Any Petite that decides to compete a solo must take 2 Ballet classes per week in addition to their other company classes. All solos, duos, trios, and small groups are scheduled as a private based on the teacher and students availability.
Junior: Every student is required to take Ballet, Jumps & Turns, and Acro. Students will then be placed in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, and/or Hip Hip. At this level select students will be offered a solo, duo, trio or a small group. Any Junior that decides to compete a solo must take 2 Ballet classes per week in addition to their other company classes. All solos, duos, trios, and small groups are scheduled as a private based on the teacher and students availability.
Teen: Every student is required to take Ballet and Jumps & Turns (Acro is strongly recommended). Students will then be placed in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, and/or Hip Hip. At this level select students will be offered a solo, duo, trio or a small group. Any Teen that decides to compete a solo must take 2 Ballet classes per week in addition to their other company classes. All solos, duos, trios, and small groups are scheduled as a private based on the teacher and students availability.
Senior: Every student is required to take Ballet and Jumps & Turns (Acro is strongly recommended). Students will then be placed in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, and/or Hip Hip. At this level select students will be offered a solo, duo, trio or a small group. Any Senior that decides to compete a solo must take 2 Ballet classes per week in addition to their other company classes. All solos, duos, trios, and small groups are scheduled as a private based on the teacher and students availability.
Company Attire:
Ballet: All company members must wear a burgundy leotard (for sale in our
store), pink tights (for sale in our store), pink ballet shoes and have their hair in a manicured bun. Girls not properly dressed will be asked to sit out.
Jumps & Turns, Lyrical, Jazz, Contemporary: leotard, or tank/sports bra with solid black booty shorts or black leggings with Twyla shoes. Hair should be in a manicured bun.
Hip Hop: leotard, or tank/sports bra with solid black booty shorts or leggings with ponytail or bun. Please wear clean sneakers until a sneaker is decided by the teacher.
Tap: All black- tank/t-shirt (no sports bras) with leggings or booty shorts. Hair in high ponytail or manicured bun.
Acro: leotard, or black tank with black booty short or leggings. Hair should be in a high ponytail or manicured bun.
